Meals on Wheels of NMCAA

Post COVID-19 Plan

Many seniors and their family members are still concerned about the uncertainty around the spread of COVID-19.  Meals on Wheels of NMCAA continues to be committed to the safety, health, and well-being of the seniors and families we serve; as well as, our staff and volunteers.

We are taking precautions at all levels of our organization and working with our staff and volunteers to practice recommendations from the CDC from which we have developed procedures to address any concerns.  At this time, masks are not required by the CDC or NMCAA.  However, if you would like to request that a mask be worn during delivery to your home residence you may do so by contacting your local office as listed below:

Grand Traverse and Leelanau Counties, Phone: 231-947-3780 x1

Missaukee and Wexford Counties, Phone 231-775-9781

We have received recommendations from the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) for COVID-19, and are implementing the following plan based on these recommendations:

1. Home-delivered clients are receiving frozen meals once weekly in our four county area. All homebound seniors (60+ years of age) are eligible for this service.

2. Congregate dining has returned to hot meal service in Grand Traverse and Wexford counties.
Please contact the Grand Traverse Senior Center Network for more information or to make a reservation for Traverse City (Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays), Fife Lake (Tuesdays), Kingsley (Wednesdays), or Interlochen (Thursdays) Phone:  231-922-4911.
Wexford County: Cadillac Senior Center, Harborview and Kirtland Terrace Congregate Site seniors are receiving meals, being delivered by building staff.
Please contact Manton Senior Center to make reservations at that site.  Phone:  231-824-6961.

3. Congregate dining in Leelanau county remains as frozen "carry out" meal packs.   Please call the Leelanau Senior Center at 231-256-8121 to make a reservation or for more information.

3. Staff is conducting friendly assurance/safety checks at time of meal delivery.

4. Meals on Wheels Assessments - Meals on Wheels assessments are a requirement by the state and an important service of the Meals on Wheels program.  Initial assessments (within 2 weeks of starting to receive meals) and yearly assessments must be conducted in person.  Six-month reassessments may be conducted by phone, if certain criteria are met.   Assessments are an important opportunity to connect clients with helpful community resources and ask for feedback about how Meals on Wheels are meeting client needs.
