Family Self-Sufficiency Program

The Family Self-Sufficiency Program (FSS) is an innovative, voluntary program that helps Michigan State Housing Development Authority (MSHDA) housing voucher participants achieve economic independence over a five-year period. Participants work with a case manager, to assess their strengths, identify barriers, set goals and achieve them. The benefits of the FSS program include: Improving or gaining employment, accessing education, developing household budget and improving financing skills, improving credit and financial situation, ending the need for rental assistance, and escrowing money to assist with self-sufficiency.
