Green Committee

NMCAA formed a Green Committee in December 2013. The group is focused on creating a more sustainable work environment for employees and programming by improving the following areas:

  • Energy Efficiency & Renewable Energy
    • Water Use, Air Quality, and Landscaping
    • Sustainable Materials and Products
    • Waste & Recycling
    • Transportation
    • Staff Awareness & Training

It is the Green Committee’s goal to receive the Neighborworks® Green Organization Designation. This designation would provide the following benefits for NMCAA:

Stature and Recognition: Green designees will receive a certificate of designation as well as an award letter from NeighborWorks America. All green designees will be profiled in a special section of the NW.org website and will be highlighted in other NeighborWorks America publications.

Branding: Green designees will have rights to use a new branding scheme created for the initiative that will identify their organization as a designee.

Financial Assistance: NeighborWorks America will be providing some technical assistance and financial support opportunities to select groups who are working towards meeting the green organization guidelines and are planning to apply for the designation. NeighborWorks is also planning to provide modest grant support for designees as part of the Organizational Underwriting round immediately following designation.

Marketing and Resource Development: NeighborWorks America will support outreach by designees to customers, partners, and donors by providing marketing materials and other resources.

Green Organization Marketing and Communications Toolkit: NeighborWorks will develop a set of templates and other tools that designees may use to help share the news about their green activities with residents, funders, partners and other stakeholders.

Special Events: NeighborWorks America will provide special opportunities for networking with peers, green industry leaders, and funders.
